Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd claims proof of the existence of God:

Mr Rudd said in his entire political life he had never been asked in a media interview to prove the existence of God. "You ... have a world first,''

Kevin in heaven

Also, to celebrate Kevin's outing of himself as a creationist, the Labor party will soon be distributing the "Intelligent Mind at Work" warning sticker depicted below. It will systematically be placed on the cover and in any dangerously enlightened sections of each and every state school and tertiary text book which relates in any way to the Evolutionary Sciences (faith schools will be exempt).

During his WYD08 climax speech in Sydney on Sunday July 20th 2008, Pope Benedict XVI warned the multitude of youthful pilgrims about a spreading 'spiritual desert'—except he pronounced it "dessert". This had the effect of sounding like something quite appealing rather than appalling. Many blogs agree. Was this a slip of the tongue? Was the Pope peckish? Could it be that such a dish is within the repertoire of Vatican victuals?

Renaissance of Reason Calling Kettle Award 2008

The winner of the inaugural Renaissance of Reason 'Calling Kettle Award 2008' has been announced early. Regardless of whatever turns-up between now and December, absolutely nothing can top the following statement made on Thursday July 17th 2008 in Sydney Australia by Pope Benedict XVI before a a "vast sea of youths from around the world, gathered under a forest of national flags for World Youth Day 08.."

"Our world has grown weary of greed, exploitation and division, of the tedium of false idols and piecemeal responses, and the pain of false promises.."

Saturday 24th November 2007

A tender typhoon of reason blows John Howard and his cronies off Australia's political table. You won't find more accurate before/after calls than the following—I promise.

Phillip Adams comments after

It's now well reported that on 9/7/07 while addressing APEC (alternatively named 'OPEC' by Bush) in Sydney, George Bush recounted Australian Prime Minister John Howard's 2006 Iraq visit to encourage the Austrian troops. It may not have been a gaffe after allin fact, W may well have blown John's cover. Without daring to reveal our source, Renaissance of Reason has unearthed a snap of Mr. Howard inspecting the Austrian Anorexic Horse Regiment on an unusually cold day in Iraq..

..although eventually there was a happy ending (at least in Oz).

Saturday July 19th 2008 Update

Maybe we should reserve judgement on the above 'happy ending' outcome. On Tuesday July 15th in Sydney before a multitude in the presence of Pope Benedict XVI, Australia's 'new hope' Prime Minister said the following:

"Some say there is no place for faith in the 21st century. I say they are wrong. Some say that faith is the enemy of reason, I say, also they are wrong. Because faith and reason are great partners in our human history and in our human future. Rich in humanity, rich in scientific progress.."

Hmmmmm?

"Well, he would say that, wouldn't he?.."
